How to Apply: Internal Medicine Residency
Only applications submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) prior to December 31 of the current calendar year will be considered. Please keep in mind, ERAS opens September 6; interview season begins in October and ends in January. Interview slots fill-up quickly, therefore, it is to your benefit to submit complete applications early.
You must have successfully completed the United States Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) Steps I and II. It is preferred that each exam be taken and passed on the first attempt. Although we may offer you an interview if your Step 2 scores are not available, you will not be ranked if those scores are not available by the rank submission deadline.
You must have a letter from the dean of the medical school where you matriculated.
Three letters of reference are required and only accepted via ERAS.
If you are a Non-Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME) graduate, you must be Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) certified.
Each resident in our program must be a United States citizen, a lawful permanent resident, a refugee, an asylee, or must possess the appropriate documentation to allow the resident to legally train at Morehouse School of Medicine.
We accept J-1 Visas only.
Please Note:
If you are not from an LCME accredited institution and have been out of medical school
for more than 2 years, it is preferred that you have at least 6 months hands-on U.S.
clinical experience. Research experiences are not considered. Morehouse School of
Medicine does not offer observership and externship experiences.
