It is the mission of the graduate program to train basic scientists who enter the scientific workforce to teach and conduct research. Examining the rate of graduates who pursue doctoral programs is a good indicator of the program’s success because the post-doctoral track is the common pathway for those entering academia and research careers. The program sets the threshold for graduates entering postdoctoral programs at 50% and other fields (industry, science policy, law, medicine, etc.) at 40% for a total career placement threshold of 90%.

M.S. in Medical Sciences

The MSMS program prepares learners to matriculate into medical school (or other health professions doctoral degree). Individuals who do not complete the degree but do successfully matriculate into health professions school are considered to be successful. The completion rate is a measure of success for this program. The Completion Rate is defined as the number of students who gained acceptance into schools of medicine immediately after Year 1 and those who completed the 2-year degree.
